Mémoire Bleue considers the fragmented nature of childhood memory and what surfaces when we look back. A smell, a particular light, the feeling of heat on the skin. Details that remain vivid while everything around them begins to blur.
Over six months of material exploration, I found myself repeatedly drawn to blue and stripes. Slowly, these elements became a pathway back to my early summers in Europe, recalling water, awnings, towels and the clothes chosen for me as a child.
Across sculptural artworks and collectable objects, I have layered, interrupted and pieced together patterns in the way memories themselves are formed. Although the work begins with my own recollections, Mémoire Bleue invites you to consider yours: what stays with you, what fades, and the sensations that can suddenly transport you somewhere you thought you had forgotten.
