HÉLÈNE KÖNIG

Hélène König is an Australian sculptural artist based in Byron Bay. Her practice is grounded in material transformation, process, and the physical traces of making, working primarily with reclaimed materials including plaster, papier-mâché, and found objects.
König’s work develops through slow, layered processes that prioritise accumulation, erosion, and irregularity, allowing form to emerge gradually rather than being fully predetermined. Her sculptures resist fixed categorisation, remaining open in both function and interpretation, and often exist in dialogue with space, surface, and the body.
Recent work includes Duality (2025), an extensive body of sculptural works composed of four interrelated chapters: Continuum, Fragments, Reflection, and Morphosis. Together, these series explore change as an ongoing condition, examining how forms shift, fracture, repeat, and reform over time.
König works from her studio in Byron Bay and presents work across sculptural objects, wall-based works, and installation.
