Duality is a body of sculptural work that delves into the paradoxes of the human experience.
The coexistence of stillness and unrest, intimacy and distance, belonging and disconnection.
It reflects the polarity each of us holds within, mirrored by the contradictions of the world at large. These works speak to the tension of living in constant opposition from the longing for calm in an age of noise to the need for closeness amid collapse.
Sustainability underpins the making of the series. Each piece is hand-built from raw, textural materials including plaster, papier-mâché, and discarded objects transformed into new forms. Through this process, what was once overlooked is given another life, reinforcing the idea that renewal can arise from what is broken or cast aside. Neither vessel nor object, the works resist categorisation. Their ambiguous forms invite emotional interpretation rather than functional reading, creating space for contemplation, pause, and resonance.
In their presence, Duality asks us to hold complexity, to embrace contradiction, and to recognise becoming as an ongoing state of finding stillness not in resolution, but in the act of transformation itself.
Within this body of work, four interrelated series — Continuum, Fragment, Reflection, and Morphosis — explore distinct expressions of this theme. Each unfolds a different aspect of transformation: the fluid passage between states, the tension within division, the quiet dialogue of self-perception, and the slow evolution of form. Together, they trace the movement between disintegration and renewal that lies at the heart of Duality.

CONTINUUM
This series marks the extended arm of a previous body of work. An echo of what has been, yet reaching toward what is becoming. It embodies the tension of evolution: the desire to move forward while still bound to familiar forms. In Continuum, duality emerges as both continuity and rupture, the self suspended between what is known and what is yet to unfold.

FRAGMENTS
These sculptural forms arise from the broken, the cast-off, the overlooked. Built from discarded materials and layered by hand, they explore the beauty that emerges in pieces rather than perfection. Fragments honours the resilience of what is incomplete, suggesting that identity—and the world—are always assembled from many parts.

REFLECTION
The mirrors themselves become portals between the self and the external world. Their organic frames distort and reshape the familiar, reminding us that perception is fluid and ever-shifting. In Reflection, the viewer becomes both subject and object, confronted with their own becoming within forms that resist symmetry and certainty.

MORPHOSIS
This last chapter traces transformation and the restless state of becoming itself. Forms shift, merge, and unravel, echoing the psychological and emotional processes of change. Morphosis embodies duality at its most fluid, where stability and dissolution exist side by side, revealing evolution as the natural rhythm of life.
